Our STORY
As born-and-bred Londoners with a love of cooking, we often found ourselves asking simple questions: Where do chickpeas grow? What does horseradish look like? We realised how disconnected we had become from the food we eat and the natural world around us.
That curiosity led us to take on an allotment. What began as an attempt to grow our own food quickly became something much bigger. We discovered the simple joy of watching seeds grow, cooking with freshly harvested produce and spending time outdoors through every season. More importantly, we experienced first-hand the positive impact that nature had on our wellbeing, confidence and sense of connection.
We created Letting Grow because we wanted to share those experiences with others.
Today, we work alongside schools, councils, charities and local communities to create thriving green spaces, deliver inspiring outdoor learning and help people reconnect with nature. From school allotments and community gardens to urban woodlands and large-scale tree planting, every project is designed to leave a lasting legacy for both people and wildlife.
Growing a generation that loves, cares for and protects our beautiful planet
Letting Grow was founded by husband-and-wife team Ross Walker and Hannah Niskanen-Benady, inspired by a simple idea: everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of being outdoors and develop a lifelong connection with nature.
With a vision for building something meaningful, our founder brings a blend of big-picture thinking and hands-on experience. They set the tone for everything we do.
