The Allotment:

Acton

Come visit us at our first grow space

An urban allotment in acton

the space had not been grown on for over 15 years and had been used as a dumping site

the plan for the allotment is to create a grow space on the left and a workshop space on the right

we have been working through out the year to regenerate the soil and create a little slice of paradise so that we can run workshops with local schools and the public

one way we have been regenerating the soil is by adding organic matter -using wood chippings, branches, leaves and other compostable materials - the aim is to recreate the mycelium network

we have also been folding some of it into the soil whilst leaving a layer on top to emulate a forest floor - the aim is to keep the soil insulated and moist which promotes healthier growth for our veg

the allotment is still work in progress

However things are starting to come together

we have managed to start growing some veg on site

we are always looking for volunteers who fancy getting a little green fingered

we want to say a massive thank you to all the volunteers that have helped so far!

We are currently organising workshops and open days for autumn 2019 so watch this space!
